From leadership philosophy to career skills
There are lots of little skills and bits of attitude and information you need to pull together to make a complete person, and the same is true in making a complete leader or a even complete employee. No one collection of tips, insights, tricks, and anecdotes can fully prepare you for anything interesting.
Find a foundation, then build your own solution
Still, the point of this project is to give you a boost and arm you with the knowledge you need to start synthesizing your own solutions for your own unique situations. That’s what I did for myself, and that what I hope this project will help you to do for you.
We covered a leadership philosophy
Up to now we’ve been focused on things that are indirectly applicable to you if you are not already leading a team of people. You absolutely need to know the philosophy and skills for leading teams of people (even teams of one!) that we’ve been focused on, and you need to know them now because the knowledge will shape how you make decisions for the rest of your career.
I recognize that these things are important and that they provide an essential backdrop against which you can shape and form your own impact and your own career. But I get really excited about the things we’re about to talk about because they are things that I love doing.
Writing, speaking, and career managment skills
We’re now moving into the career skills part of the book and of this project. In this phase we’ll talk about writing, speaking, and career management skills. These skills aren’t part of the background fabric of your career consciousness, they are the shovels, picks, and hammers that you’ll use to build your career from your first day at your first job until the day you retire.
No matter you circumstance or situation, this is the stuff you have to do well in order to make a difference for yourself and for those around you.
